During the session
The diagram lays itself out. You keep control.
Add a parent, a union, a child: a few clicks, without leaving the canvas or breaking the therapeutic alliance. The layout, for its part, asks nothing of you.
- The layout takes care of itself. Generations, unions, siblings: a layout engine arranges them, and recomputes on every addition. Explore a hypothesis, step back with Ctrl+Z, start again.
- And your manual edits stick. Move someone, pin their position, and the rest of the diagram rearranges itself around it. No later addition will move it. A place you chose is a clinical decision, not a suggestion.
- Standard clinical grammar. Notation follows the genogram conventions (McGoldrick): square, circle, diamond, unions, breakups, deaths, relationship quality.
- A clean document. Vector printing with legend and image export, for the record, the letter to a colleague, or supervision.
Ethics & security
Your patients’ data does not leave your computer
SpatioPsy runs locally. No account to create, no hosted records, no processor to declare: the privacy risk surface is limited to your own computer, which you already manage. The software’s only network request is the update check, and it goes out on your click.
- 01 AES-256 encrypted vault Every record is encrypted at rest, the key derived from your password. Automatic locking after inactivity, and a unique recovery code provided at activation.
- 02 Your backups are files You export your records when you decide, to a file you keep wherever you want and reimport as is. No unreadable proprietary format, no technical migration when you change machines.
- 03 Error log with no patient data The technical diagnostics contain no record data and are never transmitted: you download the log yourself to attach it to a support request, if you wish.

Can I try it right now?
Not freely yet. The genogram is finished and currently in private beta: the installers are not public. Write to us, pick the "Beta tester application" reason, and tell us about your practice and your operating system. Selected testers get the full software, with no record cap and no watermark.
Are my patient records hosted anywhere?
No. Records are written on your computer and never leave it. No health data goes through any server, which also spares you a processor to declare in your GDPR register. The software’s only network request is the update check, triggered by your click: it downloads a description file identical for everyone and transmits nothing about your installation.
What happens if I change computers?
You export your records from the old machine and reimport them on the new one. Backup files are reimportable as they are, with no technical migration. A restore adds a record; it never overwrites the ones already there.
Does it work offline, in an institution?
Yes. Once installed, the software runs without a network, which matters in a mental health center, a closed unit, or a home visit. The license is a signed file, verified locally: it never needs to call a server to be valid.
Do the symbols follow the clinical conventions?
Yes. The notation follows the genogram conventions as Monica McGoldrick set them: square, circle, diamond, unions, separations, deaths, and relationship quality. The software adds automatic layout and a printed legend, without changing the grammar.
What happens if I don’t renew?
Your records remain readable and exportable. The software switches to read-only mode: you keep opening, reading, and exporting everything you made, including by restoring your own backups, but you no longer edit. Nothing is erased, nothing is held hostage.
Test it on a real record, before anyone else.
The genogram is finished and looking for its first practitioner testers. No credit card, and your records stay with you, before and after.
